Strútsstígur

Strútsstígur is a new route from Fjallabak, between Lambaskarðshólar/Eldgjá and Hvanngil. This route is a continuation of the popular Sveinstindur - Skælingar route. Take the coach from Reykjavik to Eldgjá and hike to the Útivist hut at Álftavötn, which was renovated last summer. Walk from Álftavötn to Strútur, where you can bathe in the hot spring "Strútslaug". Then hike to Hvanngil for an overnight stay before heading home by coach via Fjallabaksleið Syðri. Gear is shuttled between night stops.
